Hasem Ali, a 45-year-old idol-maker based in Darrang and Udalguri districts, Assam, made figurines of Ravana during the Raas Festival at Kharupetia in 2015 which received much appreciation. Encouraged by fellow artists, he decided to try making Durga idols.
