The ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday effected a shake-up in its party ranks, appointing its coordinator O. Panneerselvam’s son to a key post.
Mr. Panneerselvam and AIADMK co-coordinator and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K. Palaniswami announced the appointment of P. Ravindranath Kumar as Theni district secretary of ‘Puratchi Thalaivi Amma Peravai’, a forum named after the late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa.
Mr. Kumar is the son of Deputy Chief Minister Panneerselvam.
The top AIADMK leaders also appointed J. Jayavardhan, son of senior party leader and Fisheries Minister D. Jayakumar, and south Chennai MP, as joint secretary of the Peravai.
They appointed others to various posts in the forum, including in districts like Tiruchirappalli and Vellore.
Mr. Panneerselvam and Mr. Palaniswami urged the party workers to extend their cooperation to the newly appointed members.
